Level 5 Networks Presents ''Low Latency Networking: How Low Can It Go'' at Interop New York

Level 5 Networks

WHAT: Craig Easley, marketing director for Level 5 Networks, will participate in a panel discussion at Interop New York entitled Low Latency Networking: How Low Can it Go. The primary networking performance metric has been increased bandwidth, but lately the industry has become more focused on lower latency to facilitate high-performance computing across a broad set of enterprise data center applications. This is a must-see panel for network vendors and end users alike who want to learn more about the differences between technologies such as RDMA, iWARP, Infiniband and low-latency Ethernet that all promise drastic reduction in latency. Rounding out the panel are Jaime Riotto, director of engineering at the server virtualization business unit of Cisco Systems and Asaf Somekh, director of marketing at Voltaire. Rick Thompson, senior analyst at Heavy Reading, will moderate the panel. WHY: Industries across the board have become increasingly dependant on compute-heavy tasks, from rapid customer-facing web transactions to genome simulations that require millions of calculations per second. Such a heavy workload has taken its toll on today's networks, bogging down Ethernet connections and causing existing adapter architectures to become performance bottlenecks. To address this problem, Level 5 Networks works with its growing ecosystem of industry partners to speed application performance through the use of EtherFabric, the only standards-compliant interconnect solution that meets the high performance and low latency requirements of the high performance cluster computing marketplace. WHERE: Interop New York Low Latency Networking: How Low Can it Go 10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Thursday, December 15, 2005 Javits Convention Center, New York, NY For further details, please see: http://www.interop.com/newyork/education/full_program.php#1134633600 To request an interview with the speakers or to discuss these trends in greater detail, please contact Anna Greulich at anna@eastwick.com.
