SearchBlox Unveils Its Content Search Software for the OEM Market

Posted on: Thursday, 8 December 2005, 09:00 CST

RICHMOND, Va., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- SearchBlox Software, Inc. has released Version 3.1 of its Content Search Software with a REST-API that allows custom content to be indexed and searched. Other new features in this release include Spelling Suggestions for search queries and support for JDK 1.5.

"Despite the availability of numerous search toolkits and SDKs in the market, integration is still a major issue for ISVs and SIs because of the steep learning curve associated with existing products," said Robert Selvaraj, Founder and CEO of SearchBlox Software, Inc. "SearchBlox has greatly simplified the integration process with a platform-independent REST-API. With the new API, custom content can be indexed and searched with simple HTTP POST and GET actions."

"The new version of SearchBlox even includes a browser-based SearchBlox Development Environment which provides developers with an easy-to-use interface to develop and test using the REST API. With the API, developers can now leverage the market-proven SearchBlox product for indexing and search requirements in their applications," he added.

The API is available in the SearchBlox Free Edition, the Enterprise Edition and the Distributed Edition for Akamai EdgeComputing Platform. SearchBlox is available as a Web Component for all major J2EE Application Servers and as a standalone application for Windows and Mac OS X platforms. The SearchBlox Free Edition is available free of charge and can index up to 1000 documents. The software can be downloaded from http://www.searchblox.com/.
