MicroTel International's XCEL Corporation Ltd. Subsidiary Wins an Additional Contract from Serco plc

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 28, 2003--MicroTel International Inc. (OTCBB:MCTL) ("MicroTel"), an international manufacturer of electronic components, subsystems and communications equipment, today announced that its U.K. subsidiary XCEL Corporation Ltd. has received a contract from Serco plc (LSE:SRPL) for the supply of additional Emergency Roadside Telephone equipment. The contract, worth in excess of $100,000, is the latest in a series of contracts from Serco that total in excess of $500,000 for sign controllers and operator control panels.

Richard Weller, General Manager of XCEL Corporation Ltd., commented, "While our defense and aerospace business flourishes it has been our objective to continue to grow our other established businesses. We have enjoyed a long relationship with Serco that has encompassed the many facets of telematics on the highways both on the roadside and in the control room. We are also currently looking to build on this business by incorporating our telecommunication products from other telecommunications subsidiaries of MicroTel."
