Australia's Direct Mail Provider Virid Achieves 200 Percent Campaign Profitability With SPSS Software; 10 Percent Revenue Growth
Posted on: Monday, 12 December 2005, 09:00 CST
SPSS Inc. (NASDAQ:SPSS), a leading worldwide provider of predictive analytics software, today announced that one of Australia's largest direct mail marketing services providers, Virid, has achieved 200 percent campaign profitability in one year using SPSS for marketing campaign optimization. SPSS' software has also enabled Virid to reduce mail costs by 50 percent.
With mail volumes exceeding 28 million pieces per year, Virid required a solution to better segment its existing customers' databases to produce more targeted mail outs. It also needed an effective method of comparing lists rented or purchased through global brokerages, to determine which would illicit the most profitable response.
To optimise its campaigns, Virid selected SPSS predictive analytics software for its ease-of-use, sophisticated analytics capabilities, and interoperability with multiple databases. Harnessing SPSS, Virid considerably reduced costs and achieved a 10 percent revenue growth, resulting in a positive ROI with the solution within nine months.
"SPSS enables us to segment our database into several customer tiers and highly target mailings within each segment. We received response rates as high as 50 percent in some segments, which is almost unheard of," said Ian Daley, Marketing Manager at Virid. "Through better segmentation, we've halved our variable mailing costs while boosting revenues, effectively doubling our profitability over the first year."
