LG CNS Finance-Insurance Sector Achieves Software Process Improvements Through Borland

Posted on: Monday, 12 December 2005, 09:00 CST

Borland Software Corporation (Nasdaq:BORL), the global leader for Software Delivery Optimization solutions, announced today that LG CNS Finance-Insurance Sector was appraised to be at CMMI(R) Level 5. Henry Schneider of Borland, an SEI-authorized SCAMPI Lead Appraiser, led an appraisal of the software development processes of the Finance-Insurance Sector of LG CNS this year. The appraisal team reported that the appraised practices satisfied all the process area goals through CMMI Level 5. This achievement by LG CNS, the second-largest SI Organization in Korea, marks a first in the financial sector in Korea.

"The LG CNS Finance-Insurance Sector has made significant progress in improving product quality, increasing productivity, improving project processes, and improving their overall organizational capabilities," said Henry Schneider. "Their efforts have allowed LG CNS to deliver higher quality systems in a more efficient, predictable manner. It has indeed been an honor and a privilege to work with such a strongly motivated management team that is dedicated and committed to driving software process improvements at LG CNS."

This news comes within less than twelve months of Borland's acquisition of TeraQuest (see related Borland announcement) and the expansion of Borland Consulting Services to include Process Optimization offerings focused on helping customers improve their software processes by leveraging industry standard models like CMMI, PMBOK, PSM, and Agile(R) methodologies.

"As a customer success like LG CNS shows, customers are increasingly looking to Borland to launch performance improvement initiatives to streamline the path to Software Delivery Optimization and the delivery of more successful software projects," said Mike Epner, vice president of Borland's Process Optimization Practice and former president of TeraQuest. "Since TeraQuest joined Borland earlier this year, we've hit the ground running in Asia Pacific and have seen an exponential increase in demand for process optimization consulting by companies across many industries."

"Recently, domestic enterprises in Korea have been showing considerable interest in the quality of customer-oriented business management and IT services. They are also more aware that software process improvements ultimately contribute to corporate productivity and customer satisfaction," said Jay Oh, Managing Director of Borland Korea. "Borland is strongly positioned to lead the CMMI market in Korea by delivering professional services to organizations focused on achieving process improvements in their software delivery."
