BEIJING, Dec. 13 /Xinhua-PRNewswire/ -- Analysys International, a leading third-party Internet-based business information service provider, says that the growth momentum of China's server market was sustained in Q3 2005 and HP led the IA server market in its recently released data report: Quarterly Tracker on China's Server Market 2005-Q3.

According to the study, China's overall server market kept on growing in the third quarter. Shipments had increased from 117.5 thousand sets in the second quarter to 125.7 thousand sets in Q3, with a quarterly growth rate of 7.0% and a growth rate of 18.6% compared with that of Q3 last year. HP led the IA server market with a market share of 23.4% followed by Dell with 20.3% and IBM with 19.2%, in terms of shipments this quarter. ''The competition amongst server makers has intensified. When the international server makers are trying to encroach into the low-end market with their low-price strategy, China's local makers are trying to achieve breakthrough in middle & high-end markets. Homogeneity competition is a serious problem in the low-end server market; and blade servers are still playing the role of market hotspot with a related standard war continuing,'' says Yang Qingfeng, senior analyst from Analysys International, ''we think that market segmentations, products and services to meet user's specific and diversified demands are weapons to differentiate from the homogeneity competition in the server market. China's server makers should focus more on vertical markets such as education, government and SMEs; and international makers should enhance localization in aspects of channel and marketing strategies to thrust into the segmented market while maintaining the advantage of service and technology.''
