Canada's Third Largest Workers Compensation Board Selects Curam Software for Claims Management Automation Project

WorkSafeBC Implements Curam Business Application Suite(TM) to Automate $1 Billion Annual Workplace Injury Benefits Processing

Curam Software Inc., the leading provider of Social Enterprise Management (SEM) software solutions, today announced that WorkSafeBC, the workers compensation board of British Columbia, has selected the Curam Business Application Suite(TM) to become its claims management system. The Claims Management Solution project will use the Curam solution to assist with managing claim intake, eligibility determination, service planning, benefits delivery, and claims processing. WorkSafeBC is currently using Curam Appeals(TM) for the organization's Appeals Management system.

Streamlining the claims management process will empower WorkSafeBC to focus on outcomes and provide faster, more efficient citizen-centric service. By replacing the legacy, manual and stove piped systems, the solution will help improve WorkSafeBC's consistency, accuracy, and quality of claims decisions through electronic processing and assisting with the management of claims. Utilizing the Curam Enterprise Framework(TM), WorkSafeBC will also provide transparency to the province's employers and employees using the web. The Curam approach will also enable WorkSafeBC to implement policy changes in near real-time, help reduce return-to-work durations, and increase timeliness of benefit provisions to injured workers.

WorkSafeBC plans to use the Curam Business Application Suite including Curam Service Planning(TM) to create, manage, and monitor its claims, as well as examine the costs accrued within claims processing. Curam Service Planning will enable WorkSafeBC to define overall goals and objectives for each case to facilitate the ultimate program outcome of return to work. These goals chart the critical road map milestones and provide context to measure the overall progress of each claim.

WorkSafeBC, the third largest workers compensation board in Canada, processes more than 160,000 claims per year, paying out in excess of $1 billion in annual benefits to workers and healthcare providers as a result of workplace injuries. WorkSafeBC embarked on the Claims Management Solution project in order to improve overall customer service, operational efficiency and timeliness of claims resolution.
