Singapore's airways to offer 800,000 low fare seats for next summer

SINGAPORE, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's low cost carrier Tiger Airways announced Wednesday that it will offer 800,000 low fare seats to all its destinations for the period between March 26 and Oct. 28 next year.

These low fare tickets, starting from 24.98 Singapore dollars ( about 15 US dollars) one way with taxes exclusive, will be available for booking from Thursday.

Launching its 2006 (Northern) Summer Schedules, the airline's Chief Executive Officer Tony Davis said that two new Airbus A320 aircraft will join the fleet when the new schedules start next March.

The airline expects that this record number of low fare seats will help boost both business travel and tourism, especially during school holidays and public holidays, in the region.

Established in December 2003, Tiger Airways launched its maiden flight on Sept. 15, 2004, and welcomed its 500,000th passenger in August this year.

Currently flying to six countries and regions including Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia and Macau, the budget carrier will start flights between Singapore and Darwin in Australia from December 19 this year and flights between Singapore and Danang in Vietnam from January 10 next year.
