NATO Awards Bandwidth Management Equipment Contract to net.com

FREMONT, Calif., Oct. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- net.com , and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), today announced that NATO has awarded net.com a contract to supply NATO with Bandwidth Management Equipment (BME) for the NATO communications network. Under the contract, net.com will supply the NATO member states with the company's Promina and SCREAM platforms.
NATO will use the SCREAM broadband and Promina multiservice access platforms to provide ISDN voice, routing, and data transport capabilities over a variety of transport protocols including Frame Relay, ATM and IP. The BME nodes will come equipped with SCREAMlink modules, allowing NATO members to take advantage of the latest high-speed networking technologies by connecting the Promina and SCREAM elements. net.com's network management platform will provide unified network management capabilities.

According to the project manager for the Bandwidth Management Equipment NATO C3 Agency, "NATO is in the process of expanding from its current 19 members to a total of 26. It is important to have a homogeneous core network in place that can adapt to meet service requirements from the users in accordance with operational priorities."
