Navy, Coast Guard sites get DSL

The Navy Exchange Service Command has hired Sprint Corp. to provide communications services at 93 Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard sites in the United States and Puerto Rico.
In addition to long distance and local telephone services, Sprint will bring broadband digital subscriber line Internet access to bachelor and transient quarters and Navy lodges.
The Navy command expanded on an existing contract with Sprint for services at 12 sites, company officials said. Sprint currently has similar contracts with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service for U.S. military installations.
The new contract with the Navy is worth $25 million annually, officials said.
