HiEnergy Technologies Launches Comprehensive Equipment Technical Assistance Program
Posted on: Tuesday, 20 December 2005, 09:00 CST
IRVINE, Calif., Dec. 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- HiEnergy Technologies, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: HIET) today announced the launch of its Equipment Technical Assistance Program as part of its long-term commitment to provide uncompromising aftermarket servicing for its products. HiEnergy Technologies is the industry leader in neutron-based explosive diagnostic technology and the creator of the world's first explosive diagnostic devices which can effectively decipher the chemical formulas of unknown substances through metal or other barriers.
HiEnergy's Equipment Technical Assistance Program is an integrated suite of services available to purchasers of its ground-breaking explosive detection products, including the SIEGMA(TM) and CarBomb FinderTM systems. The Program includes hands-on equipment training, local equipment support, including calibration, maintenance and servicing, and radiation safety certification and licensing.
As part of the Program, and in conjunction with the delivery of two SIEGMA(TM) systems to Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), HiEnergy has provided specialized instruction and training, as well as radiation safety certification and licensing guidance to SEPTA and members of its Special Operations Response Team (SORT). Most recently, HiEnergy commenced in-field training as to system operation and maintenance and will provide close hands-on support during initial deployment.
"We are committed to the customer and HiEnergy's support team is currently providing field training to Philadelphia's finest first responders on the use of HiEnergy's portable 'atometric' based explosive detection systems," stated Dr. Bogdan Maglich, HiEnergy's Chairman and CEO. "The two SIEGMA(TM) systems are being deployed in response to alarms triggered by unattended packages found in subway cars and stations within the SEPTA transit system, in tandem with highly trained K-9 units -- a unique combination of what has been considered to date the only reliable chemically-specific sensor for more than 2400 years, the dog's nose, and perhaps the most novel and advanced chemically-specific detector now available, the SIEGMA(TM)."
Radiation safety certification and licensing guidance for HiEnergy's customers is being provided through a strategic relationship between HiEnergy and Radiation Safety Academy of Gaithersburg, Maryland. Since 1984, Radiation Safety Academy has performed over 80,000 radiation safety inspections and has provided radiation training, licensing and safety certification to a large variety of clients including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Department of Energy (DOE), Duke Energy, Westinghouse, the University of Pennsylvania, the University of Texas, and the State University of New York.
The local maintenance and servicing component of HiEnergy's Equipment Technical Assistance Program is provided by Siemens Maintenance Services, LLC (SMS), a subsidiary of Siemens A.G. SMS serves as the Exclusive Service Provider of installation, repair and preventative maintenance services for products to be sold and deployed by HiEnergy in the United States. The agreement with SMS provides HiEnergy's customers with the support of a field service organization of more than 300 technicians that can respond to maintenance requests within four hours or less to any location. SMS currently provides complete maintenance service management and technical services for screening equipment installed across the U.S. and its territories, at over 445 airports and other transportation facilities, and serves the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and most regional airport and airline operators.
"Whereas other companies fail to stand behind and support their products, HiEnergy is committed to ensure that first responders, law enforcement and emergency personnel have the necessary licensing, training, preparation and support to fully exploit our products," stated Sean Moore, HiEnergy's Director of Sales & Marketing. "With our Equipment Technical Assistance Program, HiEnergy will work with its customers in satisfying all product related issues, including local maintenance and servicing, in effect working with them as a partner in their fight against terrorism."
About HiEnergy Technologies, Inc. (http://www.hienergyinc.com/ )
HiEnergy Technologies, Inc. is the creator of the world's first "stoichiometric" diagnostic devices that can effectively decipher chemical formulas of unknown substances through metal or other barriers, almost instantly and without human intervention. HiEnergy's products incorporate a proprietary interrogation process which activates a selected target with neutrons causing the contents to emit back gamma rays that contain unique signatures from which the chemical formulas are derived. HiEnergy believes its Stoitech(TM) technology compares with other detection technologies like color photography compares with black-and-white photography. HiEnergy's first commercial product, the SIEGMA(TM) 3E3, is unique in that it can detect and confirm whether an object or container carries a select group of dangerous or illicit substances, such as explosives, biological agents, or illicit drugs, with a probability of detection equal to approximately 97.75%, and "false negative" and "false positive" rates of nearly 2.25%.
HiEnergy is focused on the commercialization of the world's first "stoichiometric" explosive diagnostic devices, including the CarBomb Finder(TM) 3C4, a vehicle-borne system, for the detection and identification of car bombs, and the SIEGMA(TM) 3E3, a portable suitcase-borne system for the detection and identification of home-made bombs, also known as Improvised Explosive Devices or IEDs. The Company is marketing its devices to governmental and private entities and is negotiating licenses for distribution of its devices with various industry partners. The Company also continues to focus on the research and development of additional applications of its technologies and their further exploitation, both internally and through collaboration with third parties. HiEnergy is currently developing prototypes in programs with the U.S. Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security for other related uses of its core technology. Recently, it entered into a funded cooperative development agreement with the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to produce a proof of concept which incorporates the Company's SuperSenzor(TM) technology into a baggage screening system. The Company's "stoichiometric" technology, or Stoitech(TM) has been incorporated into additional prototype applications which, if the Company is able to raise the funds necessary to commercialize them, will be the next products it attempts to launch: an in-ground explosive screening system, the CarBomb Finder(TM) 3C5, an all-terrain robot-borne IED detector, the STARRAY(TM); an anti-tank landmine detector; an unexploded ordnance detector, which is also useful to detect IEDs; and a device called a "Refractorymeter," which can detect fissures or erosions in the ceramic lining of oil cracking tanks.
