Eclipse 2640 Delivers Consolidation, Business Continuity and Global Data Mobility
Companies looking to optimize resource utilization, improve data protection and increase data access across the organization can now do so cost effectively and securely with the availability of McDATA Corporation's (Nasdaq:MCDTA) (Nasdaq:MCDT) Eclipse(TM) 2640 SAN Router available through Hitachi Data Systems. In addition to being resold by Hitachi Data Systems, the Eclipse 2640 has been qualified for use with Hitachi's TagmaStore(TM) Universal Storage Platform and TrueCopy(TM) Heterogeneous Remote Replication software. Together they deliver a remote mirroring solution that can replicate enterprise customer data between sites -- even if those sites are across the globe -- to meet today's data access, business continuity and disaster recovery requirements.
"McDATA's Eclipse 2640 combined with Hitachi's leading TagmaStore Universal Storage Platform offers a high performance solution that optimizes bandwidth usage over greater distances. Used in conjunction with Hitachi TrueCopy replication software, customers' replication solutions can work at full speed with full data integrity beyond typical distance limitations, improving data recovery times and operation uptime," said Jack Domme, senior vice president, Global Solutions Strategy and Development, Hitachi Data Systems. "In addition, companies looking to consolidate and tier their storage network can leverage the Eclipse 2640 to economically share backup resources across multiple SAN fabrics, further reducing costs."
McDATA has unmatched experience in developing and delivering enterprise class routing and extension products that overcome fabric limitations as well as meet customer requirements for disaster recovery, data protection and remote data access. The Eclipse 2640 provides FastWrite for superior disk performance over any distance, hardware compression for optimized bandwidth utilization, network fault isolation for maximum availability and data integrity even with "less than perfect" networks.
The Eclipse 2640 is used by enterprises of all sizes for SAN and storage consolidation, business continuity/disaster recovery, content distribution and iSCSI access to Fibre Channel storage.
"McDATA and Hitachi Data Systems' strong partnership has helped us to jointly deliver powerful new storage technologies, reliable products and innovative solutions that accurately address customer storage networking challenges," said Doug Ingraham, vice president of product management, McDATA. "This announcement further strengthens McDATA's leadership in providing business continuity and SAN routing solutions as part of our Global Enterprise Data Infrastructure strategy, which helps customers build the most scalable and reliable storage networks."
