Enterasys Secure Network Deployed By Travelex, the World's Largest Foreign Exchange Dealer

Posted on: Tuesday, 20 December 2005, 18:00 CST

Enterasys Networks(R) (NYSE: ETS), the Secure Networks Company(TM), today announced that Travelex, the world's largest foreign exchange specialist, has deployed Secure Networks(TM) solutions that provide a secure, scaleable, resilient infrastructure for its European headquarters in London. The leading non-bank provider of commercial foreign exchange services turned to Enterasys when the company needed to replace its network in order to handle sharply increased volumes of traffic. Also factoring into the decision to deploy Enterasys products and solutions was Travelex's plan to add new voice and video-streaming applications to its network.

Tony Warzytz, network manager for Travelex, said the company conducted a rigorous review of available switching products and decided that Enterasys' Matrix N-Series switches best met its needs, now and in the future.

"Enterasys continues to stand out from the crowd when it comes to secure networking," said Warzytz. "We found that the N-Series' distributed, flow-based architecture allowed for a highly granular level of control to data streams at the switch level, but at the same time offered us tremendous capacity for handling large volumes of traffic."

The project included pre-installation testing and the migration of nearly 1,000 users and more than 300 servers onto the new network.

"The key benefits are performance, reliability, manageability and capability," said Warzytz. "The network now has ample capacity to meet the demands of our high-performance computer systems. We'll be expecting even more from the network in the future--as new applications are introduced, and traffic characteristics change."

Warzytz says the new Enterasys secure network has given Travelex faster system response times, equating to greater efficiency for staff, and improved service to customers.

"This is a great success story," added Travelex IT director Gareth Richards. "Enterasys has given us an edge that other vendors would struggle to deliver. The level of technical support was first-rate and we would not hesitate to recommend Enterasys as a company that cares about the future of security, and about good communication with its customers."

John Roese, chief technology officer of Enterasys Networks, says Enterasys enables enterprises to confidently address current and future network security challenges. "As all organizations prepare for the brave new world of converged media, including voice and video on the data network, their need for comprehensive network security and management solutions will be greater than ever. Enterasys is proud to work with Travelex in deploying our Secure Networks products and solutions to provide the company with industry-leading performance and security, which enables faster and more efficient service delivery for their users and systems. What sets Enterasys apart from other networking vendors is the close working relationship we develop with our customers. We work together as partners to deliver the most feature-rich and secure networks designed to meet each customer's unique needs."

These statements are neither promises nor guarantees, and actual future financial performance, events and activities may differ materially. Readers are cautioned not to place undue reliance on these statements, which speak only as of the date hereof. We expressly disclaim any obligation to update such statements publicly to reflect changes in the expectations, assumptions, events or circumstances on which such statements may be based or that may affect the likelihood that actual results will differ materially.

Some risks and uncertainties that may cause actual results to differ materially from these forward-looking statements include, but are not limited to: worldwide and regional economic uncertainty and recent political and social turmoil may continue to negatively affect our business and revenue; we have a history of losses in recent years and may not operate profitably in the future; our quarterly operating results may fluctuate, which could cause us to fail to meet quarterly operating targets and result in a decline in our stock price; we earn a substantial portion of our revenue for each quarter in the last month of each quarter, which reduces our ability to accurately forecast our quarterly results and increases the risk that we will be unable to achieve previously forecasted results; we continue to introduce new products, and if our customers delay product purchases or choose alternative solutions, or if sales of new products are not sufficient to offset declines in sales of older products, our revenue could decline, we may incur excess and obsolete inventory charges, and our financial condition could be harmed; we may be unable to upgrade our indirect distribution channels or otherwise enhance our selling capabilities, which may hinder our ability to grow our customer base and increase our revenue; we have experienced significant changes in senior management and our current management team has been together for only a limited time, which could limit our ability to achieve our objectives and effectively operate our business; there is intense competition in the market for enterprise network equipment, which could prevent us from increasing our revenue and achieving profitability; a portion of the enterprises we sell to rely in whole or in part on public funding and often face significant budgetary pressure, and if these customers must delay, reduce or forego purchasing from us, our revenues could be harmed; we depend upon a limited number of contract manufacturers for substantially all of our manufacturing requirements, and the loss of any of our primary contract manufacturers would impair our ability to meet the demands of our customers; and those additional risks and uncertainties discussed in our most recent filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, including our Form 10-Q for the quarter ended October 1, 2005.
