MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 2003--
BMC Software, ForeScout, HP and netForensics now approved to run
innovative, interoperable applications with Nokia IP security
platforms
Nokia (NYSE: NOK) announced today four new "Nokia OK" products to its Nokia Security Developer Alliance program. The growing list of program members now includes BMC Software(R), Inc., ForeScout Technologies, Inc., HP and netForensics, Inc.
"With a total of nine approved, unique member applications, the Developers Alliance continues to successfully demonstrate Nokia's commitment to bringing customers and reseller partners new layers of protection and management that extend the value of their Nokia appliances," said Marc Theeuwes, senior manager, Nokia. "These offerings from BMC Software, ForeScout, HP and netForensics will enable Nokia end users to better monitor and safeguard their networks, as well as lower the TCO of their overall security infrastructure."
The newest "Nokia OK" products provide four distinct applications that interoperate with the Nokia appliances.
-- PATROL(R) Express from BMC Software monitors the performance
and availability of network infrastructure remotely. No
software resides on the elements being monitored, enabling IT
staff to quickly determine how infrastructure problems affect
the end-user experience.
-- ForeScout's ActiveScout technology adds a new layer of
security outside the enterprise firewall that preemptively
blocks hackers and worms, without requiring signature updates,
constant monitoring or continuous adjustments.
-- The HP OpenView multi-platform systems management solution can
monitor, control and report the health of an entire network
environment, allowing end users to diagnose and resolve
issues, as well as optimize performance.
-- netForensics' Security Information Management (SIM) solution
examines disparate network security devices, normalizes
messaging, correlates the alerts and provides a single console
view of all security events, enabling network managers to
easily identify and track security breaches.
These leading applications complement Nokia's line of firewall, VPN, IDS, mobile connectivity and secure content management appliances, enabling Nokia to broaden its reach to new markets and satisfy an evolving variety of customer implementation requirements. By running either "on" or "off-appliance," these applications allow Nokia to reduce end user complexity and deliver a truly comprehensive solutions-oriented approach to security.
"As a 'Nokia OK' member, HP can manage both the Nokia platform and firewall application, making it easier for customers to deploy multiple appliances while monitoring and maintaining control of these critical gateways," said Todd DeLaughter, vice president and general manager, HP Management Software Organization. "As HP Openview supports more than 100 additional enterprise software products, Nokia customers can now seamlessly integrate Nokia security appliances into the management of their larger enterprise IT framework."
"With the 'Nokia OK' approval, BMC Software and Nokia provide enterprise and service provider customers an end-to-end solution that securely monitors the complete network security appliance," said Dave Anderson, director, product management and development, BMC Software. "PATROL Express drives down costs by remotely monitoring performance and availability of servers, software applications and network elements. Using PATROL Express, customers can securely monitor the health of the Nokia appliance and measure availability against customer-defined service-level objectives. This information can then be integrated with PATROL to provide a complete view of how IT resources are performing."
The newest members of the Developers Alliance can now use the Software Development Kit (SDK) for Nokia's secure Operating System (IPSO). The SDK, in conjunction with the Developers Alliance approval process, has enabled these developers to create truly interoperable solutions, comprehensively tested for security, performance, reliability, ease-of-use and rapid deployment.
"We are excited about extending netForensics' Security Information Management capabilities to the trusted Nokia platform," said John Haddox, program manager, netForensics. "netForensics provides customers with powerful, scalable, real-time security monitoring, correlation and analysis, and by increasing security team capacity and effectiveness, grants organizations heightened control of their security management."
"ForeScout's ActiveScout technology running on the Nokia platform stops attacks by automatically blocking intruders who have demonstrated a proven intent to compromise the network," said Roy Rotem, program manager, ForeScout Technologies. "Together with Nokia, we look forward to offering customers a fully integrated, easy-to-manage network security solution designed to help stop attacks before they happen."
Established in 2002, the Developers Alliance delivers enterprise and service provider customers select, third-party applications on the trusted Nokia IP security platform, thus extending and enhancing the value of their Nokia infrastructure investments. Existing 'Nokia OK' applications include those from Fishnet Security Inc., Open Service(TM) Inc., Permeo(TM) Technologies Inc., SurfControl(R) and Tripwire(R), Inc.
