Dec. 21--HUDSON -- Presstek Inc., makers of digital imaging systems for the graphic arts and laser imaging markets, has completed its consolidation of ABDick's Illinois-based operations, the company announced Tuesday.
Designed to reduce operational costs and strengthen Presstek's organizational efficiency, the consolidation included the successful relocation of ABDick's back-office and administrative operations to Presstek's Hudson headquarters. The consolidation also included the relocation of streamlined inside sales and customer service operations to Presstek's new call center in Des Plaines, Ill., and the closure of the Niles, Ill., facility.
The company expects to save about $1.5 million a year as a result of the Niles consolidation, according to Moosa E. Moosa, Presstek's executive vice president and chief financial officer.
The Niles consolidation follows closely behind the consolidation of ABDick's Rochester, N.Y., facility into Presstek's headquarters. "The combined integration efforts since the acquisition of ABDick are on track to achieve annualized cost savings of approximately $8.5 million by the second half of 2006," Moosa said in a prepared statement.
"We continue to be pleased with the progress of our integration efforts and remain committed to optimizing operational efficiencies throughout our organization, as well as delivering better service to our customers and increased value to our shareholders."
The Niles consolidation did not effect the ABDick warehouse operation in Des Plaines, IL or other Presstek and ABDick staff located in regional offices in North America, Europe and other worldwide locations.
Presstek is headquartered at 55 Executive Drive in Hudson.
