Time Warner Telecom to Deliver Voice and Data Services to Department of Justice National Training Center

Posted on: Wednesday, 21 December 2005, 15:00 CST

COLUMBIA, S.C., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Time Warner Telecom Inc., , a leading provider of managed voice and data networking solutions for businesses, today announced that it has won a multi-year contract to deliver voice and data services to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) National Training Center (NTC) in Columbia.

Time Warner Telecom will supply Ethernet Internet Service (EIS) to the training center for Internet connectivity. In addition, the DOJ contracted 15,000 direct inward dial numbers and Integrated Services Digital Network Primary Rate Interface (ISDN PRI) lines for voice and desktop faxing applications.

Time Warner Telecom's "plug and play" EIS offers cost effective connections to the Internet that are easily expandable up to 1 Gbps that can easily meet future bandwidth requirements of the DOJ. The service will be provided to multiple NTC buildings via dual-entry connections, providing added security, on private SONET protected fiber rings. All services are expected to be installed by the end of the year.

The addition of new buildings to the National Training Center's facility was the primary factor for the increased Internet bandwidth and additional voice and data connectivity. The 232 room campus will use EIS to support facility-wide wireless access to each trainee's laptop computer.

"The NTC is a model training and education complex," said Tejay Beauparlant, vice president and general manager for Time Warner Telecom in Columbia. "As this facility grows and their requirement for more bandwidth increases, our services can easily adapt. Our Ethernet service is scalable to Gig E capacities."
