SACRAMENTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 20, 2003--o1 Communications, Inc., a leading multi-network provider of next-generation data telecom services to Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and provider of business and residential telephone services, has licensed SlipStream Data, Inc.'s core Web accelerator technologies to expand its current dial-up access offerings. SlipStream has had phenomenal success with its Web and e-mail accelerator software. The partnership between o1 and SlipStream will allow dial-up users faster download times when accessing e-mail and browsing the Internet.
o1 Communications provides dial-up Internet access to more than 300 ISPs in the California market. "Our ISP customers were asking for a solution to offer their users as an alternative to expensive broadband technology," said Brad Jenkins, President of o1 Communications. "Our partnership with SlipStream will allow our ISP partners to offer a service that is priced at dial-up rates and give their users speeds almost as fast as broadband."
"By partnering with a leading telecommunications provider such as o1, SlipStream is extending our current acceleration suite to thousands of Internet users," said Ron Neumann, President of SlipStream Data. Our dial-up accelerator technologies prove that you do not have to pay for expensive broadband service to navigate the Internet fast!"
"As a leader in Internet access in California, o1 has explored many ways to give the dial-up user a faster experience while surfing the Internet," said Max Seely, Vice President of o1 Communications. "We needed a solution that was going to offer the best speeds at the best margins for our ISP partners without creating a tech support nightmare. We believe SlipStream's accelerator technologies to be leading the acceleration industry in both performance and user acceptability. The ability to extend the life of dial access while providing a new revenue stream for our ISP partners provides o1 with a large competitive advantage."
SlipStream's Web accelerator technologies compress, optimize and streamline Web content after it leaves the server, providing a dramatic improvement in Web-surfing speed. This is important for dial-up users who either do not have access to high-speed cable or DSL services or do not want to pay the higher prices charged for broadband services. Customers surfing the Net with these technologies will find that Web pages download up to six times faster than traditional dial up.
