Dec. 23–Kyle Newman continued to impress Thursday, scoring 28 points to lead the Marysville High boys basketball team to a 70-52 win over visiting West Campus.
“I know he had 28 points at the end of the night, but I’m not really sure where they came from,” said Marysville coach Brian Lowe. “He probably had to take more shots than he usually does to get the 28, but what more can I say about him. He’s playing great.”
Eric Fowler and Mike Walker added 10 points each for the Indians (9-1).
Corey Jackson led the Warriors (8-4) with 33 points. It was the third lowest scoring game of the year for West Campus, which entered Thursday’s game averaging 64 points per game.
“Our defense, that’s where we really got it done,” said Lowe. “We swarmed to the ball and created a lot of steals. We got a lot of easy points off that.”
