Emirates Airlines to start flights to Cambodia
PHNOM PENH, Dec. 23 (Xinhua) -- Emirates Airlines of the United Arab Emirates will become the first airlines opening direct flights from Middle East to Cambodia.
A Memorandum of Understanding on the flights was signed on Friday by the representatives of Cambodia's Secretariat of Civil Aviation and Emirates Airlines.
Under the agreement, the Airlines will fly from Dubai to Phnom Penh at least seven times a week with Boeing 777. The Airlines plans to start its flights next year.
Emirates Airlines flies to more than 70 destinations worldwide now including more than a dozen Asian countries and regions.
Sok An, minister of the Council of Ministers, said the flights will benefit both nations as well as passengers, and "what is more important is that Dubai is the important airway connecting Europe and Asia, the opening of the flights will bring more foreign tourists to Cambodia."
There are more then 10 foreign airlines flying to Cambodia now, including China Southern Airlines, Dragon Air and Shanghai Airlines.
