Smoke in BA Jet Forces Emergency Landing
December 28, 2005
A British Airways flight from New York to London was diverted to Wales for an emergency landing after smoke was found in the cockpit.
The 747 landed in Cardiff International Airport at 12:40 p.m. Wednesday on its way from JFK Airport to Heathrow, the BBC reports.
The plane landed safely and an investigation is under way.
It was carrying 19 people — 17 were crew and two off duty British Airway employees.
All other passengers switched to earlier flights.
The plane was delayed leaving for six hours for inspection after a bird crashed into it on its way to New York.
