Fox TV is reportedly exploring the possibility of a late night talk show.

The network has hired former CBS Late Late Show With Craig Kilborn executive producer Todd Yasui to head up future development of possible late night programs for Fox, the network announced in a statement.

Yasui is the executive producer of a late night pilot, Talk Show With Spike Feresten, which has been under consideration at Fox for at least a year, Daily Variety reported.

Fox had Joan Rivers’ Late Show from 1986-1988, then took a stab with Chevy Chase’s infamous flop, which lasted only a month in 1993, Variety reported.

Variety said the timing is right for Fox to be looking to re-enter the arena with Jay Leno stepping down as host of NBC’s The Tonight Show in three years and the possibility of David Letterman vacating his CBS spot as he celebrates his 25th anniversary in 2007.
