Multi-State Income Taxes Filed Online With Federal Returns Is New Feature of TaxBrain.Com 2006

Posted on: Thursday, 29 December 2005, 09:00 CST

"TaxBrain.com(http://www.taxbrain.com/state_taxes.asp) for the 2000 season features improved multiple state returns," said Todd Taylor, Director of Affiliate Marketing for Petz Enterprises (http://www.petzent.com), whose consumer brand TaxBrain.com is the third largest federal and state tax online preparation service in the U.S.

"While there are many federal tax filing online alternatives, TaxBrain.com's web based state tax preparation service specializes in allowing filing multiple state returns with the federal return," continued Mr. Taylor. "This is especially attractive for taxpayers who earn income in various states, such as consultants, traveling sales people, entertainers, professional athletes, and commuters who live in one state and work in another," he said.

Mr. Taylor added, "TaxBrain has the most complete set of state forms, giving the taxpayer power to prepare the most complex income tax returns in less time and more accurately than pencil and paper on the kitchen table or at a walk-in center."

State tax returns are required in forty-four states. However, it is quite common for taxpayers living in New Hampshire to be required to file a return in Massachusetts. The same applies to taxpayers working in Alabama, but living in Texas, which does not have state income tax. Also, some municipalities such as New York City tax wage earners who must file federal, state and city returns.

"Filing state taxes online is an ideal solution to the increasingly complex situation," Mr. Taylor said. "PC software was once a good bet, but the purchase process can now induce its own tax-time trauma. The overwhelming variety of versions, complicated bundle and rebate options, and the uncertainties of installation and endless updates make buying tax software as daunting as any government form. Going online for federal and state taxes is easy to shop, always up to date and accessible from home, work, or on the road."

"eFile online continues to develop a loyal following among people who once did their taxes with PC software, or went to a local tax office. According to IRS data, efile is now the fastest growing favorite among America's 68 million taxpayers, an 11% increase over the previous year. The IRS goal is to have 80% of all taxpayers e-filing by 2007," said Eric Hayes, Senior Tax Analyst, Taxbrain.com (http://www.taxbrain.com/efile.asp).

"Hundreds of thousands of satisfied TaxBrain.com electronic filers point to cost, convenience and simplicity as the most important factors in their decision to switch - and their commitment to never go back," Mr. Hayes added.

"Consider this: an Internet tax filing service like TaxBrain.com will run anywhere from $20 to $90 and deliver a professional grade result. With a little online experience and a willingness to try something new, savvy taxpayers can save themselves significant time, hassle, eliminate risk of losing paperwork due to a catastrophe such as Hurricane Katrina or an earthquake, and get their refund just about the time that charges for Christmas purchases become due, " Mr. Hayes concluded.
