British plane returns to JFK airport due to engine glitches
NEW YORK, Dec. 30 (Xinhua) -- A British Airways plane that was forced to return to John F. Kennedy International Airport due to an engine fire safely landed and no one was injured, local officials have said.
The Boeing 747, heading to London, had to fly back shortly after takeoff late Thursday night because one of the plane's four engines was found catch fire, the officials said.
The Flight 116, with about 300 passengers on board, landed safely and the fire has been put out.
The passengers and crew were scheduled to take another flight on Friday morning.
