Jan. 3--WILKES-BARRE -- A Wilkes-Barre man who said he was stabbed in the early-morning hours of New Year's Day found himself under arrested when police responded.
Officer Tom Kaluzny of the Wilkes-Barre Police Department responded at about 2 a.m. Sunday to the Sheetz gas station, 464 Wilkes-Barre Township Boulevard, for a reported stabbing, according to a police report.
Christopher Donofrio, 27, who said he was stabbed while in Plains Township, became hostile and started cursing at officers in front of customers at the station, Kaluzny said.
Paramedics treated Donofrio at the gas station and he was later released into police custody.
He was taken to the Wilkes-Barre Police Department but refused to cooperate with the Plains Township Police Department's investigation into the stabbing incident, police said.
Wilkes-Barre police did not release any information about where the reported stabbing took place. Plains Township police had no reports of the stabbing as of Monday evening.
Donofrio was cited with disorderly conduct for his behavior at the gas station in front of the civilians who were present, according to the police report. He was also given a citation for public drunkenness before police released him to his girlfriend.
While at the police station, officers also cited a 16-year-old juvenile with disorderly conduct for screaming obscene language, police said. She was also cited with underage drinking before being released into the custody of her sister.
