Posted on: Tuesday, 3 January 2006, 15:00 CST
ORLANDO, Fla., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. , today announced a special program to assist those passengers affected by Independence Air's announced suspension of service. Beginning January 6, 2006, passengers ticketed on Independence Air can fly on stand-by status on AirTran Airways for a one-way, refundable fare of $50*. Passengers are encouraged to call 1-800-AIRTRAN to request and pay for their stand-by record prior to arriving at the airport to expedite airport passenger processing. All passengers must go to the AirTran Airways ticket counter to complete their processing for their requested flights
Since stand-by travel is subject to space availability on flights, AirTran Airways has also implemented a special fare of $100* one-way for confirmed space travel for those passengers affected by Independence Air's shutdown. This fare can be purchased by calling 1-800-AIRTRAN or at airport ticket counters. AirTran Airways is a leader in offering low fares and reminds passengers that the sale fares offered by the airline are often lower than this special fare, but affected passengers will be offered fares not to exceed $100* one-way for affected itineraries. To find the lowest fare, check the airline's website at http://www.airtran.com/.
Tickets will be available for this special fare effective January 4, 2006, and travel for the special confirmed space travel offer must be completed by January 31, 2006. For the stand-by option, passengers must contact AirTran Airways for assistance prior to March 6, 2006, and travel is valid on the dates of their original itinerary on Independence Air. Additionally, due to the nature of stand-by travel, AirTran Airways will allow passengers to stand- by up to five days earlier than their original travel date. Passengers must show proof of purchase on Independence Air to take advantage of the confirmed space fare offer of $100* or the stand-by fare offer of $50*.
Proof of purchase must be presented in the form of a ticket receipt obtained directly from Independence Air or an e-ticket confirmation acquired through their reservations website. Photocopies of these documents are not accepted. Documents must be presented and will be collected at the AirTran Airways ticket counter upon date of travel. Please call 1-800-AIRTRAN with any questions regarding these offers.
