Spirit Airlines reports December 2005 traffic. Spirit carried 376,989 passengers, 13.6% fewer than last December. Spirit achieved a 72.3% load factor, which achieved 3 points fewer than December 2004. Revenue Passenger Miles (RPMs) reached 344,685,000 and Available Seat Miles (ASMs) reached 476,812,000.
"2005 was a year of transition for Spirit as we converted half of our fleet to new, Airbus equipment," said Ben Baldanza, president and chief operating officer of Spirit Airlines. "During this transition and especially this fall, we aggressively managed our schedule capacity to fly less and December was no exception. In December, we optimized revenue versus volume and I'm encouraged by our results. We are experiencing an excellent customer response to our peak winter travel season with our new service to the Caribbean. I look forward to this year with great optimism as our transition will be complete and we'll be an all Airbus airline with an entirely fuel-efficient fleet."
