Strike Closes 20 London Subway Stations

A strike by London Underground workers closed 20 of the city's 275 subway stations Monday, with management saying it had caused little impact on service.
At the height of the morning peak less than 10 percent of stations were closed due to industrial action, an LU spokesman told the BBC.
Rail Maritime and Transport union members who work at ticket offices and stations walked off the job for 24 hours Sunday evening in a dispute over proposed work schedules, which the union claims threaten safety because they spread staff too thin.
However, the LU said that claim was untrue and they would not run services or keep stations open where it was not safe.
Train drivers were not taking part in the strike.
About 3 million people use the London subways during the work week.
