BusinessWeek Online Announces Site Enhancements and New Content Offerings

BusinessWeek Online, the award-winning Web site of BusinessWeek magazine, which is published weekly by the McGraw-Hill Companies (NYSE: MHP), has created a downloadable desktop application, BW Online Alerts, which delivers breaking news headlines directly to user's desktops as they happen. The free service allows users to customize the headlines they receive based on keywords and categories of interest.
Additionally, BusinessWeek Online officially launched a new podcast series, "Innovation of the Week," which features interviews with various leaders in the business world each Tuesday.
"Our goal is to be where users are getting information and provide the information in formats that are most desired - whether it be via print, online, tv, alerts, podcasts, rss or blogs." said Business Week Online vice president, Howard Manus. "BusinessWeek is doing every single one of those as of today."
Over the past year, the number of unique visitors to BusinessWeek Online has more than doubled, to 5.6 million a month. In 2005, BW Online was named to Adweek's first annual Web site "Hot List." The site also won Best Investment Web site and Best News Website in the 2005 Web Awards competition.
Additional content enhancements over the past year include:
-- Launch of the Innovation & Design Channel - joined the roster of existing channels at BusinessWeek Online including Investing, Global Biz, Technology, Small Biz, B-Schools and Careers.
-- Redesign of Tech & Science Channel - introduced two tech-focused blogs, user-posted product reviews, easier-to-navigate design and several new content features.
-- Blogs - Blogspotting, Byte of the Apple, Fine on Media, Hot Property and NussbaumOnDesign
-- Podcasts - Regularly scheduled podcasts enhance popular weekly features with additional analysis and insight, including "Behind This Week's Cover,""Business of Podcasting" and "Tech & You."
