Denver-based Frontier Airlines, which began twice-daily round- trip service between Tulsa and Denver last spring, says it's increasing daily flights to 20 cities and will add a third daily Tulsa-Denver flight July 28.
Frontier is concentrating on strengthening its route system and expanding into new markets, including Canada, said CEO Jeff Potter.
In an interview with the Rocky Mountain News, Potter declined to say where in Canada Frontier would fly or how many cities it would serve. The carrier hopes to begin service to that country in May.
Frontier also plans to add more than 20 nonstop daily flights to cities it serves, including Tulsa; Portland, Ore.; Seattle; San Diego; and Salt Lake City.
Potter said Frontier also plans to add three new domestic destinations this year. In 2005, Frontier added Tulsa; San Antonio; Akron-Canton, Ohio; and Detroit to its route system.
Frontier flies 46 aircraft to 44 cities in 25 states, and to five cities in Mexico. It employs 4,550 people, including one in Tulsa.
Potter said Frontier hopes to add 700 employees in Denver, as well as additional gates, within two years. It is the second- largest carrier at Denver International Airport, behind United Airlines.
