Phone service had been restored by Sunday morning to SBC customers in North Topeka who lost services for about 25 hours during the weekend.
A contractor working near S.W. 7th and Jackson cut a fiber optic cable at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, said Kim Gronniger, SBC spokeswoman.
Gronniger said service was restored to the last customers by 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
The loss of service affected customers south of US-24 highway and north of the Kansas River between N.W. Menoken Road and N.E. Kaw Valley School Road.
Some businesses in the affected area reported having complications with debit card and credit card transactions.
