Posted on: Thursday, 12 January 2006, 09:00 CST

Furukawa America Inc. announced today the expansion of its communications products to include wideband and standard analog PIN photodiodes for CATV/Broadband transmission systems.

Manufactured by OKANO in Yamato, Japan, OKANO uses a YAG welding process to produce photodiodes that offer higher reliability under diverse environmental conditions. These receptacle and pigtail PIN photodiode modules are Telcordia GR-468-CORE qualified; provide low inter-modulation distortions and wider frequency response.

Furukawa America is a supplier to CATV, FTTH, data and telecommunications industries throughout North and South America. The company's expansion to include OKANO photodiodes will increase its presence in the CATV, wireless, and wideband analog transmission system markets.
