Subscription plan matters in changing mobile phone operator: survey
SINGAPORE, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Enjoying a more attractive subscription plan has been cited as the top reason by mobile phone users in Singapore who intend to change their service providers, according to the findings of an ACNielsen survey released on Wednesday.
Conducted by ACNielsen Research Singapore in October last year via the Internet, the survey showed that 47 percent of the respondents who are likely to switch mobile phone operators prefer a more attractive plan involving lower monthly subscription fees, free incoming calls, per second billing and more flexibility.
Eighteen percent would like to change their service providers for better network coverage and 11 percent for cheaper hand phone prices or free hand phones.
The survey, which interviewed 1038 people aged 15 and above, also found that the longer mobile phone users have been subscribed under a contract, the less they are inclined to switch their service providers.
About half of the users who have been under a contract for between two and four years are unlikely to change their service providers even if they were not on contract, while 15 percent would.
Of those who have been under a contract for less than one year, 32 percent have no intention to switch their mobile phone operators while 23 percent said that they will or are likely to change if they were not on contract.
