Dataram First to Expand Sun Fire X4100 and X4200 Server Memory to 32GB; 1, 2 and 4GB Upgrades Also Released
Posted on: Friday, 13 January 2006, 09:00 CST
Dataram Corporation (NASDAQ: DRAM), a leading provider of server and workstation memory, today released four new memory upgrades for Sun Microsystems' Sun Fire X4100 and X4200 servers including a first-to-market 8GB capacity. Dataram's 8GB upgrade (DRSX4100/8GB) doubles the Sun Fire X4100 and X4200 servers to 32GB of memory, the most available in the industry.
The 1, 2 and 4GB capacities of Dataram's DRSX4100 each consists of a matched pair of DDR400/PC3200 ECC DIMMs. The 8GB capacity, not available from Sun, consists of a matched pair of DDR333/PC2700 ECC DIMMs. All capacities support Chipkill, an advanced form of ECC, delivering unmatched data integrity and system availability for critical applications.
"Enabling our customers to attain the maximum memory capacity on their Sun systems is an ongoing priority at Dataram. Dataram's new family of high-performance memory for X4100 and X4200 enables these systems to operate at peak efficiency," stated Tony Pawlik, Dataram's Vice President of Sales. "In addition to providing high-capacity first-to-market products, Dataram memory options are typically priced up to 50% less than Sun's memory upgrades," added Mr. Pawlik.
The Sun Fire X4100 and X4200 servers are fast, reliable, and energy-efficient one to four-way servers, powered by one or two dual-core or single-core AMD Opteron processors. Both are compact power-saving systems and can run Solaris OS, Linux, or Windows operating systems.
