SWsoft's Joins the Itanium Solutions Alliance; The Company is the First Server Virtualization Software Company and Joins Intel, NEC, HP, Novell and Others

Posted on: Friday, 13 January 2006, 12:00 CST

Today, SWsoft, an established leader in server automation and virtualization and maker of the Virtuozzo (www.virtuozzo.com) server virtualization solution, announced that it is the first server virtualization software company to join the Itanium Solutions Alliance. The Itanium Solutions Alliance is comprised of a group of leading enterprise software and hardware providers, including Intel, NEC, HP, Novell and Unisys, dedicated to accelerating the adoption and ongoing development of Itanium solutions. Virtuozzo is the only server virtualization solution which provides both 32- and 64-bit support for Linux and Windows, and supports the adoption of open standards based on Itanium architecture.

Virtuozzo's unique operating system level architecture provides near-zero overhead and class-leading scalability for production environments and is ideal for the most demanding 32 and 64-bit applications. Each Virtuozzo virtual private server (VPS) comes with full Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees and the ability to automatically scale to the full server based on resource requirements.

"We are pleased to join the Itanium Solutions Alliance and join the company of other recognized leaders in both enterprise software and hardware," said Serguei Beloussov, SWsoft's CEO. "SWsoft believes in the Itanium architecture and will look to play an active role in the Alliance and proliferation of server virtualization."

Server Virtualization for the Real World

Virtuozzo for Linux and Virtuozzo for Windows radically increase the power of enterprise servers by turning a single physical server into multiple isolated virtual private servers (VPSs). Virtuozzo operating system (OS) level virtualization delivers unique benefits including:

-- High Performance - Efficient technology with near-zero overhead delivers maximum density, scalability up to 16-CPU SMP and 64 GB of RAM, and availability by migrating VPSs between physical servers in seconds

-- Expansive Multi-Platform Support - Linux and Windows operating systems and any underlying hardware with native support of 32-bit and 64-bit systems at both host and guest levels

-- Built-in Automation and Tools - Intuitive and effective management of large groups of servers and VPSs with a full set of client, web-based and command line tools including physical to virtual (VZP2V) capabilities

-- Rapid ROI - Lower hardware, software and management costs due to performance-oriented architecture and automation minimize total cost of ownership and drive rapid return on investment

Availability of Virtuozzo

Virtuozzo for Linux is now available for AMD Opteron and Intel EM64T platforms. Virtuozzo for Windows and Virtuozzo for Linux (32-bit and Itanium) are also generally available. For more information or to request a demo, please visit www.virtuozzo.com.
