Seasoned Security and Software Industry Visionaries to Help Direct Company's Effort for Continued Growth and Execution
Secure Software, the authority in automated application security products and process technology, today announced the addition of four top minds from leading hardware, software and security companies to its Advisory Board. Curtis Coleman of Seagate Technology (NYSE: STX), Rich Moore, formerly of BNX Systems and Cyveillance, Eric O'Brien of Cybertrust and formerly McAfee, and Secure Software co-founder John Viega have joined the Advisory Board to provide additional vision and guidance as the Company continues to maintain its leadership position in the application security space.
"After much due diligence and a highly selective process, we appointed four industry veterans to join our Advisory Board," said Kevin Kernan, CEO of Secure Software. "As more and more enterprises and development organizations integrate security into the development lifecycle, we will leverage the experience of these seasoned business operations and technology experts to better meet evolving industry demands. Application security is poised to take off in 2006, so we expect John Viega's expertise to continue to be a valuable asset to the Company, and we welcome the addition of Rich Moore, Curtis Coleman and Eric O'Brien to help drive success for years to come."
Current members of the Secure Software Advisory Board include Jeremy Epstein, senior director of product security & performance at webMethods; Russ Housley, founder of Vigil Security, LLC; and Andrew Nash, the former chief operating officer at BroadVision. The newest additions to the Board include:
-- Curtis Coleman, senior director of global IT governance and electronic security at Seagate Technology, the worldwide leader in the design, manufacturing and marketing of hard disc drives. Coleman has more than 20 years of experience in network architecture, security and management. He has published more than 30 professional papers on information assurance, and he is the author of the "US Air Force Wing Command and Control Systems Security Manual." Coleman is a founding member of the Santa Cruz Law Enforcement Computer Crime Forensics Lab.
-- Rich Moore, former vice president of sales at BNX Systems, a leading provider of enterprise identity and access management solutions. Moore has more than 20 years of technology marketing experience with an emphasis on emerging growth companies. This includes international development, M&A integration, investor relations and support for multiple IPOs with such companies as Cyveillance, Descartes Systems and Systems Center. Moore also serves on the board of directors of Vocus, a public company, and Inserso, an application development firm recently recognized by the U.S. Air Force.
-- Eric O'Brien, vice president of software development at Cybertrust (formerly TruSecure), the global information security specialist. O'Brien has more than 20 years of experience in building and managing the development of retail PC software products. Prior to joining Cybertrust, he held several senior-level development positions with McAfee/Network Associates, ATT/Bell Labs and IBM.
-- John Viega, co-founded Secure Software with the Company's current chief security architect, Pravir Chandra, and most recently served as the Company's chief technology officer. He has co-authored several books about software security, including "Building Secure Software" (Addison Wesley, 2001); "Network Security with OpenSSL" (O'Reilly, 2002); and "19 Deadly Sins of Software Security" (McGraw-Hill/Osborne, 2005). In addition, Viega co-authored CLASP (Comprehensive, Lightweight Application Security Process), Secure Software's process guide that helps organizations incorporate security into their application development lifecycle.
"IT security will always be a top concern of enterprises across all industries, but the nature of how criminals are attacking corporations is continuously shifting," said Curtis Coleman, senior director of global IT governance and electronic security at Seagate Technology. "Traditionally, attackers focused on exploiting vulnerabilities in network defenses and operating systems. Today, they are targeting individual applications. The only sure way to ward off these attacks is to dramatically reduce software vulnerabilities before applications are deployed. Secure Software's process-oriented approach to helping companies integrate security testing into the application development lifecycle makes the company the authority in this space, and I look forward to being part of Secure Software's continued success."
