Verizon Wireless Customers Can Manage Their V Cast Music With Music Essentials Kit From Smith Micro

BEDMINSTER, N.J. and ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Jan. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Smith Micro Software Inc. , a developer and marketer of a wide range of software solutions for the wireless market, and Verizon Wireless, the provider of the world's most comprehensive mobile music service, announced today the availability of the V CAST Music Essentials Kit. The perfect complement to Verizon Wireless' V CAST Music service, the Music Essentials Kit allows Verizon Wireless V CAST Music customers to manage and transfer music files to their V CAST Music phones from their Windows XP PCs.

Smith Micro produced components of the software in the V CAST Music Essentials Kit that is available in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores from coast to coast today. Performed under a global extension of the existing contract between the two companies, software was developed by Smith Micro to provide a simplified customer experience to aid in the installation of the V CAST Music Essentials Kit. In addition, Smith Micro custom designed an application to ensure that music file names are maintained and recognized by the mobile phone's memory card. This new application makes it easier for Verizon Wireless' V CAST Music customers to manage and import songs from their own music collection.

The Music Essentials Kit includes the music manager software on CD, USB cable, stereo headset -- a $29.99 value -- and quick reference guide. The Music Essentials Kit enables customers to connect their V CAST Music phone to their XP PC, charge the phone while connected to the PC, transfer and manage music on the phone, play music in stereo with included headset and make and receive calls while listening to music. The Music Essentials Kit is available online and in Verizon Wireless Communications Stores for $29.99.
