Sprint Names Kathy Walker Executive Vice President of Network Services

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Sprint today announced the appointment of Kathy Walker as executive vice president of network services. Walker previously served as senior vice president of network services and senior vice president of Global Markets' network services.

In her new role, Walker, who will report to Gary Forsee, Sprint's chairman and chief executive officer, will lead the strategic direction of Sprint's wireless and wireline networks. She will continue to oversee the design engineering, operations and performance management of Sprint's nationwide PCS network as well as the domestic and international wireline voice, data and Internet networks. She also continues to have responsibility for access management and integrated technology planning for domestic and international strategic ventures.

Walker had previously served as assistant vice president of Human Resources for Sprint Technology Services in October 1995 and vice president of product management for Sprint Business in April 1997. Her industry experience also includes leadership roles in product planning and management, fiber cable engineering, network inventory, design and construction of network buildings and the development of network standards and drawings.
Walker holds a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from South Dakota State University and Master of Science and Professional Engineering degrees from the University of Missouri-Rolla.
