GENEVA, ITU Telecom World 2003, Oct. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sun Microsystems today announced the worldwide availability of the pre-integrated, iForce(TM) Solution for Telecommunications Service Delivery. This iForce solution helps allow carriers and service providers to accelerate service creation and delivery, gain increased revenues with new voice and data services, and drive down the cost and complexity of service introduction.
Central to Sun's strategy for telecommunications, the iForce Solution for Telecommunications Service Delivery can provide a robust, flexible and standards driven architecture. The solution addresses the need for carriers and service providers to securely expose their networks to leverage existing infrastructure investments as well as facilitate commerce with the third-party development community.
"Our customers are asking for solutions that can enable them to implement and deploy an end-to-end service delivery platform without overhauling their existing infrastructure investments," said Phil Sasso, senior director of the telecommunications industry at Sun Microsystems. "Core to the Service Provider infrastructure and essential for the ability to help deploy revenue-generating voice and data services are Java(TM) systems and technologies such as JAIN(TM) SLEE, OSS through Java(TM) and the Sun Java Enterprise System."
ABOUT THE SOLUTION
The iForce Solution for Telecommunications Service Delivery has four key elements.

service providers the flexibility to either create new services within
their network environment or to securely leverage new services and

-- Service Integration -- helps minimize the need for customized
integration while providing for flexible customer pricing, bundling,
packaging and discounting
-- Service Management -- helps provide wholesaling models for enterprise
delegation, revenue assurance and mediation
-- Service Delivery -- enables service brokering, transaction monitoring,
service assurance and dynamic resource provisioning
