Vangard Voice Systems Introduces AccuSPEECH(R) Mobile Middleware to Voice Enable Enterprise Applications

Posted on: Tuesday, 24 January 2006, 06:00 CST

Vangard Voice Systems, Inc., a pioneering provider of software for integrating speech into mobile device applications, enables speech for entering and accessing data on electronic forms in mobile environments with the introduction of its patented AccuSPEECH(R) voice enabling middleware solution.

"The number of mobile workers is expected to reach more than 878 million worldwide by 2009 according to industry analysts at IDC, and so companies are looking for cost-effective solutions that extend their IT systems to meet the functionality, security and reliability the mobile environment demands," said Bob Bova, CEO and president of Vangard Voice Systems.

The AccuSPEECH product suite is platform independent, compatible with all major voice engine products, and seamlessly integrates into existing workflow procedures that run on WinCE(TM), Web-based, or Java(TM) applications residing on a PDA, Smartphone, laptop, desktop or tablet PC, making it the ideal choice for organizations that may be using more than one software voice engine.

The AccuSPEECH solution includes:

-- AccuSPEECH Client - a compact, robust multi-platform voice recognition software package that resides in each voice-enabled target device, such as a PDA, tablet, laptop or desktop PC that captures speech entry for eForms.

-- AccuSPEECH Server - a server platform that interfaces with the enterprise IT system and administers the devices that are speech-enabled via the AccuSPEECH Client.

-- AccuSPEECH Studio - an integrated set of object inspection, grammar development and audio testing tools presented in a graphical environment. The Studio provides a platform for voice enabling eForm applications, adding voice features and optimizing audio processing.

The most challenging aspect of deploying speech as an interface technology has been the integration of the speech engine with the application, which requires complete redevelopment if the application or database is changed. The AccuSPEECH Client and Server are entirely independent of the voice engine and backend database, providing a complete end-to-end solution that streamlines the integration of voice as input mechanism into enterprise applications, accelerating time to market and significantly reducing costs.

The AccuSPEECH Studio provides a "drag 'n drop" graphic/audio development and test environment for adding speech capability to existing programs. The programs can then be compiled into a speech object package for downloading onto the target user devices.

"The AccuSPEECH solution provides the critical software component that makes speech usable as an input modality," Bova said. "AccuSPEECH is the enabling middleware that coordinates between the speech recognition engine and the application to provide a cost-effective, reliable and scalable solution that will enable companies to use voice as an efficient way to input data into almost any application."
