ConSentry Networks Named a Finalist As Best Enterprise Security Solution for 2006 SIIA Annual CODiE Awards
Posted on: Tuesday, 24 January 2006, 09:00 CST
ConSentry Networks, a leading provider of secure networking solutions for LANs, has been selected as a finalist for the 2006 CODiE Awards by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association for the software and digital content industries. A record 1000 products, encompassing 76 software, content and education technology categories, were submitted in response to the 2005 Call for Nominations. CODiE Awards organizers attributed the flourishing economic environment for pushing nominations for the 2006 awards to a new record high.
"It's remarkable that the CODiE Awards have maintained their status as the software industry's symbol of outstanding achievement for 21 years," said Ken Wasch, president of SIIA. "The CODiEs have continued to grow in stature every year and is inarguably the software and information industry's most recognized and prestigious award."
"We are honored that the prestigious industry group SIIA has recognized ConSentry as a finalist for this year's best enterprise security solution," said Faizel Lakhani, ConSentry's vice president of marketing. "This validates our Secure LAN Controller as a new class of LAN security equipment that delivers the performance of a switch with the economy and deployment ease of an appliance."
ConSentry's Secure LAN Controller combines network admission control, unprecedented visibility and event auditing, complete user access control, and threat control capabilities into a single platform to provide comprehensive LAN security. Based on ConSentry's patented LANShield silicon architecture, the platform delivers Layer 2-7 deep packet inspection at full duplex, 10 Gbps throughput rates -- a necessity for any inline device -- to fully secure every port that provides access to enterprise LANs. ConSentry delivers this pervasive LAN security at a cost of about $3000 per gigabit of secured traffic -- representing approximately 10 percent the cost of other available solutions. The Secure LAN Controller is fully compliant with the Cisco Network Admission Control (NAC) and Microsoft Network Access Protection (NAP) initiatives as well as the Trusted Computing Group's Trusted Network Connect (TNC) architecture.
Established in 1986, the CODiE Awards are the longest-running, peer reviewed awards program in the software and information industry. In the initial round of judging, representatives from the software and information industry trade press, mainstream technology writers, consultants, analysts and subject-matter experts carefully review all nominees and vote on finalists for each category.
