Discussion on Market-Based Transportation Reforms With National Expert Robert Poole, Jan. 26

Delegate Christopher Saxman (R-Staunton), Chairman of the bi- partisan Cost Cutting Caucus, will join Americans for Prosperity- Virginia and the Reason Foundation in welcoming transportation expert Robert Poole to Richmond on Thursday, January 26th.

WHO:

Robert Poole, Director of Transportation, Reason Foundation.

Poole has advised the Federal Highway Administration, the Federal Transit Administration, the White House Office of Policy Development, National Economic Council, the Government Accountability Office, and dozens of other transportation agencies. Poole has also advised the last four Presidential Administrations on privatization and transportation policy. Following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, Poole advised the White House Domestic Policy Council and several Members of Congress on ways to improve the nation's airport security.

WHAT:

A brief presentation to Members of the General Assembly, and all others wishing to attend, on how market forces can be employed to improve Virginia's transportation system. This presentation will reflect Poole's comments made earlier in the day to the House Committee on Transportation and cover his discussion with the Virginia Department of Transportation.
