Teradyne Introduces New XFrame Integrated Program Development Environment for XStation AXI Systems

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 2003--Teradyne, Inc.'s (NYSE:TER) Assembly Test Division today introduced a new programming environment for its family of XStation(TM) automated X-ray inspection (AXI) systems. Announced and demonstrated at the Productronica trade fair in Munich, the PC-based XFrame(TM) software significantly reduces program-generation time and improves the consistency and quality of AXI inspection programs.
"XFrame cuts program-generation time to hours," said Paul Groome, product manager, Assembly Test Division. "With our previous-generation software packages for AXI programming, it took days to get a program onto an AXI system. Users had to access many different tools and manuals in order to understand the set-up of algorithms to achieve the highest fault detection. The new XFrame programming environment automates all this work, so an initial program can be developed and ready for debug in less than a half hour."
Providing a key benefit to the industry, XFrame allows all programming to be performed off-line, enabling maximum utilization of investment in equipment. Unlike other AXI programming software, XFrame provides complete flexibility by giving the customer the ability to set thresholds rather than hard-coding them into the software. XFrame deploys a new graphical user interface and ensures data quality using an industry-standard Oracle database.
XFrame software will begin shipping in Q1 2004. Pricing for an XFrame programming package starts at $26,125. Product delivery time is one to two weeks.
