Oracle(R) Database 10g Achieves Record Performance With NEC Itanium(R) 2 Based Express5800/1160Xe Server

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Oracle today announced a TPC-C record performance benchmark result for Oracle(R) Database 10g on NEC hardware and the Red Hat(R) Linux operating system. This latest benchmark signifies world-class achievement among eight-processor systems using Linux and the best performance on an Intel-based eight-processor server platform.

Running on NEC's Express5800/1160Xe Server, corresponding to "NX7700i/3040H-16" server in the Japanese market, with 8 Intel(R) Itanium 2 1.6 GHz processors, Oracle Database 10g on Red Hat Enterprise Linux v4 operating system, achieved 254,471 tpmC (transactions per minute) with a price-performance ratio of $5.32/tpmC.
