Japan Net Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Select RSA Security for Consumer Authentication

BEDFORD, Mass., Jan. 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- RSA Security Inc. today announced that Japan Net Bank and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) selected RSA SecurID(R) strong authentication solution to better protect online banking customers in Japan. As cyber security threats become increasingly sophisticated, financial institutions worldwide are embracing stronger methods of protecting their customers. Japan Net Bank and SMBC join a growing roster of financial institutions across the globe -- including Banorte (Mexico), Credit Suisse, E*TRADE Financial, ProCredit Bank (Germany) and UniCredit Banca (Italy) -- leveraging RSA Security's two-factor authentication technology to help protect consumers against account fraud, phishing and other online security threats.

Japan Net Bank becomes the first financial institution in the world to deliver two-factor authentication tokens to all active account holders. Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation
Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation became the first financial institution in Japan to offer two-factor authentication to online banking customers as part of the bank's One's Direct Internet banking service. One's Direct is one of the largest Internet banking networks in Japan with over 6 million users. By providing RSA SecurID two-factor authentication technology to consumers using One's Direct, SMBC is enhancing its security measures in order to support its customers' efforts to stay protected while transacting online.
