Shanghai railway station sees daily passenger flow of 400,000 people
SHANGHAI, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai railway station saw a passenger flow of 400,000 people who travailed to its surrounding areas on Thursday, according to local railway authorities.
Shanghai Railways Bureau has established headquarters in surrounding cities including Hefei, Nanjing and Hangzhou to deal with ticket services and possible emergencies.
So far the station has sent off 7.29 million passengers during the annual peak travel season of Chinese Lunar New Year, up by 9.5 percent over last year.
The station has so far launched altogether 1,707 additional trains to cope with the passenger rush, said an official with the bureau.
