SANTA CLARA, Calif., Jan 27 /PRNewswire/ -- whaBAM! is the first e-commerce online auction site to incorporate social networking. This revolutionary concept allows both buyers and sellers to network, socialize, and most importantly, increase the sense of community within the online auction community.

Leading whaBAM!'s list of new social networking features is the ability for users to link to other users. When a mutual link is established, users can then see information from each other's profile that would normally be hidden.
whaBAM!'s linking feature can tell sellers and/or high bidders alike if an item they are involved with is connected to someone they know. If the other party is not connected to the user's network, it's easy to send an invitation based on both parties' common interest.
In the future, whaBAM! plans to implement additional social networking features including user pictures, enhanced private and public profile fields, as well as the ability to publish online photo albums of personal collections such as cars, guitars, jewelry, real estate, or rare collectibles.
Another planned feature is the ability for sellers to run special promotions or information to their network; for example, sellers may offer free shipping in a given month, provide updated information on previously purchased product, relay recall notices, or provide free firmware updates.
For buyers, social networking has advantages as well, including the ability to discuss where the best prices are for specific items or share feedback on given seller's response times or quality of goods.
"whaBAM!'s new social networking capability allows us to not only grow a trusted community of buyers and sellers, but also provide a means for people to interact with each other," said Eren Niazi, founder and CEO of whaBAM!. "This unique new feature lets people share pictures and details about their hobbies, interests, and collections of goods. Social networking, appropriately applied to our auction site, is a perfect fit for users."
Coupled with whaBAM!'s existing RSS and community forums, the new social networking features create a seamless commerce and community portal. Now users can get to know others with similar interests and share knowledge and comments on specific items in the auction area.
In addition to adding the social networking features, whaBAM! continues to address the growing concerns of the online auction community. Led by its commitment to "no listing fees ever" as well as its simple pricing structure, whaBAM! offers increased security and anti-fraud and anti-spoofing measures to fight the problems plaguing other online auction sites.
whaBAM! currently has close to 20,000 items, along with thousands of active users. To further enhancing its already-rapid growth, whaBAM! has planned an aggressive marketing campaign throughout 2006.
