CARLSBAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 27, 2003--AirPrime(R), Inc., a leading provider of CDMA wireless access solutions for the OEM market, today introduced the company's latest addition to its Helium 1x family of CDMA embedded modules: the EM3400 series. The EM3400 series platform is a compact full-featured CDMA2000 1x embedded module supporting dual band operation, assisted GPS functionality and comprehensive voice and data applications. The platform's small size and rich feature set translates to an ideally flexible CDMA2000 1x wireless engine for OEMs looking to fulfill consumer demand for exceptional handsets, smart phones, wireless PDAs, and a host of mobile computing products and wireless access solutions.
The EM3400 platform is the first module available to the OEM marketplace based on QUALCOMM(R)'s advanced Zero-IF based technology known as radioOne(TM) and the MSM6050 baseband processor. The high level of integration associated with radioOne(TM), coupled with AirPrime's exceptional design expertise, results in industry-leading consumer products that are big on features and significantly smaller in size. AirPrime is one of the early adopters of QUALCOMM's radioOne(TM) technology and the new EM3400 series represents the company's first in a series of new products based on this state-of-the-art architecture.
The EM3400 series module has passed the demanding set of voice and data interoperability test requirements defined by the CDMA Development Group (CDG) with all key CDMA network infrastructure providers for North America. This is a mature and high-quality platform that implements state-of-the-art components; making it ideal for OEMs who are seeking the best of both worlds -- a low risk and reliable product design utilizing the latest technology available. OEMs have already collaborated with AirPrime on the design and development of revolutionary devices based on the EM3400 series platform and consumers will begin to see these compelling new products in the marketplace this fall.
"Once again, AirPrime has delivered, on-time, an industry-first embedded module solution for our OEM partners who are looking for time-to-market advantages in bringing high quality cutting-edge products to their customers," said Jim Kirkpatrick, CEO and president of AirPrime, Inc. "The addition of the EM3400 series module, combined with our comprehensive and unrivaled embedded offering, marks us as a progressive leader in the CDMA industry."
AirPrime's OEM customers will be attracted to the feature-rich EM3400 series module, which enables comprehensive voice features, SMS functionality and bi-directional data with rates up to 153.6 kbps. Furthermore, the EM3400 platform supports operation in both CDMA 800 and 1900 MHz bands, and includes integrated gpsOne(TM) functionality, optional BREW(TM) support, optimized power management for low power consumption, optional RUIM support, and a 40-pin low profile board-to-board connector. This platform is bundled with AirPrime's extensive and proven software package and application interface, which support a host of other core features, capabilities and applications.
AirPrime, a company known for its world-class CDMA engineering, product development and certification team, extends the most comprehensive offering for CDMA product design and integration available today. AirPrime's extensive embedded module portfolio, OEM strategy and complete wireless development team, enable OEM partners to focus on their core competencies while relying on AirPrime to address the CDMA wireless aspect of their product. AirPrime's other lines of CDMA wireless engines can be found in compelling devices such as the award-winning Handspring(TM) Treo 300 and the innovative G1000 Multimedia Communicator Pocket PC by Hitachi America Ltd.
