New Email Marketing Software

LIMERICK, Ireland -- An Irish software development company, Narragansett Technologies, has designed and brought to market an innovative email marketing software solution, using the Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) .Net platform.

The new solution - SpinnakerPro - will be aimed at enterprise customers in Ireland and overseas and was developed using the Microsoft .Net platform. The .Net platform - specifically, the Visual Studio .Net tool - provided Narragansett with a number of crucial benefits in designing the solution.

SpinnakerPro is aimed at measuring the return on investment of email marketing campaigns through carefully designed metrics, which can report on the numbers of emails in a campaign that have been opened, dwelt upon and forwarded.

In addition, the solution allows for campaign broadcasts to be segmented in a user defined way, which allows for components of each campaign to be targeted more effectively.

Narragansett recently signed a strategic alliance with Epicor(R) Software Corporation, (NASDAQ: EPIC), a leading provider of integrated enterprise, eBusiness and collaborative commerce software solutions for midmarket companies, whereby Epicor will market SpinnakerPro as Clientele eMarketing, integrating the solution into its Clientele CRM suite of solutions. Epicor chose SpinnakerPro because of its robust e-mail marketing and campaign management technology and innovative use of the Microsoft .NET Framework.

SpinnakerPro is highly scalable and its time to market was considerably shortened due to the rapid application development capability offered by the .Net platform.

The Visual Studio .Net tool provided Narragansett with a unified development environment, allowing the design team to concentrate on pure applications development, as opposed to low level architectural design.

"We felt that the .Net platform, and Visual Studio .Net, delivered all the key technologies required to build a highly performing and rich functionality solution set, with minimum resources," said Chris Byrne, CEO, Narragansett Technologies.

Among the key features on the .Net platform that were of value to the designers of the solution were the availability of an Object Model for creating Client Side and Server Side controls, which allowed for the creation of User Interface controls that could be shared between the pages, and the ability to produce Microsoft Installer Executables for web projects from within the Visual Studio .Net environment.

"Our assessment and technology research confirmed there was an edge to be gained by the use of the .Net platform as we had no legacy application code set to bring forward. In just six months we went from the proof of concept state, all the way to the general availability of our first product release. The finished product is of the highest quality and thoroughly tested," said Byrne.

The major benefits of the .Net platform for the purposes of developing the SpinnakerPro solution were the availability of real world samples applications on .Net and the ease with which SpinnakerPro can be deployed on the .Net platform. In addition, the ability to use existing Component Object Model technology allowed for integration between existing and new technology to create feature rich applications.

"Given the progress that we have made in developing SpinnakerPro, in terms of the technologies used in its design, it's fair to say that .Net played a major role in the creation of our alliance with Epicor," he said.
