Boston Software Systems Expands Install Base By 80 Percent in 2005

Boston Software Systems(TM), the leader in workflow automation technology to the healthcare market, exceeded its sales expectations with nearly 50 percent growth in the provider base and 45 percent growth in its partner base. This caps a year of widespread success, expansion and praise for Boston Software Systems and its flagship product, Boston WorkStation(TM) (BWS). The Company also expanded the BWS product line, hired new executives and maintained a high profile at industry and partner trade shows.
In the past year, Boston Software Systems added nearly 400 new hospital sites including leading providers: Park Nicollet Health Services, Washington County Hospital, Charleston Area Medical Center, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Medical University of South Carolina, Vancouver Coastal Health, TriHealth, Shands Jacksonville Medical Center, Montefiore Medical Center, Sentara Healthcare and installations in more than 40 HCA facilities. These additions move the total install base to more than 1,000 provider facilities.
Boston Software Systems' customers occupy nearly one-third of U.S. New and World Report's Hospitals & Health Networks Most "Wired" Honor Roll, and the technology is installed in hospitals in South Africa, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, and Canada. Growth in the Canadian market was especially dramatic with a 300 percent increase in installations.
Leading application vendors in the healthcare sector increasingly look to Boston Software Systems to provide the automation and integration piece for their solutions. Business with these partners increased dramatically with the addition of 40 new application vendor partners. These partners are now responsible for more than 500 installations of Boston WorkStation throughout the world. Demonstrating success with solutions that use BWS, the partner business showed an 83 percent increase in successful implementations. Among the partners actively using BWS in their solutions are: Emdeon, McKesson, Siemens, Novell, Quovadx, InterSystems, CareMedic (previously Third Millennium), Craneware, WestCliff Medical Laboratories, Streamline and DSI Labs.
New Products
In May, Boston Software Systems unveiled Boston WorkStation v8.0, which takes a new approach to script development by speeding development time and simplifying the development process. As organizations look to automate existing workflows and develop new ones, this approach allows them to develop processes that more closely match the requirements of their workflow in a more logical, user-centric fashion.
In Q3, the Company launched the BWS Task Builders, the first library of wizards designed to facilitate the scripting process for automating common tasks performed in hospitals. Each Task Builder facilitates tasks performed with specific hospital information systems (HIS).
The BWS Task Builder for MEDITECH Client Server Print Controller enables MEDITECH Client Server users to easily configure an automated workflow for scheduling reports for printing or distribution at any defined interval.
Corporate Expansion
To accommodate widespread growth and demand, Boston Software tapped April Gianoli as vice president of technical services, and Bob DiSciullo as regional sales manager among other technical and support positions. Both appointments reflect the Company's momentum and commitment to customer needs. Boston Software Systems increased its employee base by 25 percent from January 2005 and expects employee growth to continue to rise in 2006.
"By helping healthcare organizations to reinvent their existing processes, BWS saves customers weeks of work, thousands of dollars, and enables them to focus on their core competencies," said Sara McNeil, president of Boston Software Systems. "We have experienced consecutive record quarters and plan to continue this momentum into 2006 with new innovations to our core products. Boston Software executives delivered 10 speaking engagements at prominent industry partner events. Time and again, Boston Software Systems has proven itself as a successful company within the highly competitive and dynamic healthcare IT market."
