Terawave and INEO Infracom Partner to Supply France With Advanced, Fiber Access Networking Systems and Services

Posted on: Tuesday, 31 January 2006, 12:00 CST

Terawave Communications (www.terawave.com) and INEO Infracom (www.ineoinfracom.fr) today announced their agreement to partner in providing the world's most advanced fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) solutions to network service providers and municipalities throughout France.

Terawave is a leading global supplier of multi-service fiber access systems, including Passive Optical Networking (PON), having shipped over 10,000 nodes to over 80 customers on five continents. INEO Infracom is one of the largest suppliers of network installation and maintenance services in Europe, with national coverage and local presence in every region of France, and offices in several other countries.

Under the terms of the Value Added Reseller (VAR) agreement, INEO Infracom gains the right to market, install, and provide support services for Terawave products. Terawave gains a world-class partner that has existing relationships with major incumbent and competitive service providers, as well as many municipalities in France.

"We have world-class expertise in civil engineering, installation, and maintenance services, which comprise most of the cost of a new access network," stated Max Mantelin, Directeur Delegue (Managing Director) of INEO Infracom.

"The Terawave PON system significantly reduces these costs, while also reducing the cost of both the hub and the customer premise equipment. When we saw the capital, fiber, and management efficiency inherent in the Terawave systems, we realized they make us much more competitive as a full-service solution provider to our access customers."

Terawave has the world's broadest portfolio of multi-service PON optical network terminals (ONTs). At the customer premise, the TW-300 and TW-400 aggregate voice, Ethernet, V.35/X.21, video, telemetry, and E1 circuit services over a single-fiber optical access network operating at 622 Mbps in both the upstream and downstream directions. In the central office, the TW-600 optical line terminal (OLT) aggregates multiple PONs, and provides protected interfaces to IP/Ethernet, ATM, and SDH (TDM) backbone networks. Sophisticated quality of service, explicit rate control, and 802.1Q VLAN services with "Q-in-Q" tag stacking allow advanced business services with carrier-class quality.

The INEO agreement also covers Terawave's new GPON product line, which will be introduced in 2006. This new generation of products will provide even more bandwidth and flexibility to meet the needs of business, residential and multiple dwelling sites, while retaining the business-class service quality for which Terawave is known. Operating at 2488 Mbps downstream and 1244 Mbps upstream, the new TW-800G OLT, TW-148G business ONTs, and TW-124G residential ONTs will provide plenty of bandwidth for high-speed data, voice-over-IP (VoIP), IPTV and video on demand services.

"We are delighted to have such a strong partner representing us in France," said Frank Lockwood, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Terawave. "INEO Infracom has long provided the kind of local presence, outstanding service and support that our service provider customers require."
